Jonesin’ for more free music. You fiend.

Big things coming out of the Rhymesayers camp. As a way to thank the fans – and bring traffic into their Fifth Element online store – the Minneapolis duo Atmosphere released a seven song (fre)EP, or free EP. Leak at Will is pretty run of the mill Atmosphere, but Slug and Ant have never disappointed me. Plus, it’s all high quality, none of that withholding of decent material for the album stunts some artists try to pull. Enough said. Register at the online shop and download Leak at Will. Solid.

What’s Good?: All of it, my favorite is “Feel Good Hit of the Summer Part 2”

Okay, maybe a little bit of a cop out, but I want everyone to get all excited for an upcoming release by Nobody Famous, a dope – yes I said dope – emcee and producer. I am…Nobody Famous is a catchup of the first two volumes of the Order Up! series; the third volume drops July 28th, same days as QuESt’s Broken Headphones, for sure a good day in hip-hop. Nobody has that singing-rap thing down without being annoying. Also, his production style vibes pretty hard with an electro feel to it.

What’s Good?: “Don’t Act Like I Never Told Ya Part 1& 2” and “Pink Elephants” Feat. Artis Vance

Novel is, as Spin Magazine describes him, a scion. The Detroit emcee and producer gives us, a day early too, a solid effort that serves as a precursor to his album due TBA and plays like an album. There is no bad song on the tap and he utilizies his lyrical style very well. The storytelling dynamic of Novel’s pairs nicely on a track with Ghostface Killah and can also rap around a hook real easy. The guy’s talented and has a great set of cameos, not too many, but enough the keep the tape interesting.

What’s Good?: “Message to Rihanna” Feat. Ghostface Killah, “To Find a Hero” Feat. Colin Munroe, “Mad World” Remix
