This week, the mixtape melay was a little stunted by the holiday weekend, but there were stilla couple gems to cop.

The long delayed talked-about FakeShoreDrive and Timbuck2 collaboration finally saw the light of day this week and proved to be worth the wait. Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks of The Cool Kids host this tape chock full of Chicago’s finest MCs and producers to create a masterful landscape of the city’s hip-hop scene. Much of the material is has been out for a minute–which begs the question of why did this tape take so long–but also features an unreleased Lupe Fiasco track and new Cool Kids, Mikkey Halsted and GLC.

What’s Good?: The Cool Kids “Treated,” Mikkey Halsted Feat. GLC “Just Juke” [Produced by No I.D.], Bump J “Youngest in Charge”

Even though the weather’s warming up, there’s always time for the Snowman. Young Jeezy teams with DJ Folk to prove that Trappin’ Ain’t Dead. Jeezy supplies his growl over pure Southern-fried beats courtesy of DJ Toomp, Mega Man and the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. Lil’ Wayne makes an obligatory guest verse with Drake on the official verison of “I’m Goin’ In” and the other Lil’s, Boosie and Webbie, also make an appearence. Generic, yes, but one of those guilty pleasures that everyone can agree upon.

What’s Good?: “Trappin’ Ain’t Dead,” “Air Forces 2,” “Might Just Blow”

“The New Jack of Brooklyn boom-bap” lets go a solid set before the release of his sophomore LP, Fresh Daily is the Gorgeous Killer in Crimes of Passion (High Water Music). The rapper/graphic designer lends his creative genius to classic Outkast, Kanye West and Gorillaz cuts for pure BK remixes. Fellow New York and Interweb buzz artists Mickey Factz, Outasight and Jesse Boykins III also lend verses to what amounts to a major hype builder for the upcoming album. Big things should be expected.

What’s Good?: “Future Shock” Feat. Mickey Factz, “Jump” Feat. Jesse Boykins III

If you’re still in need of a fix, Young Buck, Holly Weerd, Jay Rock, Cassidy, Serius Jones and Nickelus F also dropped tapes this week. Otherwise, my only advice: don’t get slapped.
