North Elementary – Local 506 – April 23

In celebration of a dual 7-inch in which each band covered one of the other’s songs, Chapel Hill’s North Elementary and Atlanta’s Pistolero invited Wembley along to play a show at Local 506. All told, it was a strong line-up for a Thursday night show. Pistolero displayed a formulaic style of style of retro rock, but the band had the instrumental chops and passion to give its simple songs a fire that made them hard to resist. Wembley’s set was the best of the night thanks to its chaotic yet controlled use of guitar effects and amazing vocals. North Elementary also played well injecting its pop-rock with caustic distorted guitar and keys to give it more impact than it would have had otherwise.
