Max Indian – Local 506 – Jan. 29

It seems odd to say with a record as great as Max Indian’s You Can Go Anywhere, Do Anything, but last night’s performance was actually better than the album. Switching up their live line-up with Roman-Candle-vet Jeff Crawford moving from bass to keys, the band fleshed out their arrangements accentuating the irresistible hooks and good-hearted feel that make lead-singer Carter Gaj’s songs so great. The openers didn’t disappoint either. Athens, Ga. four-piece Modern Skirts rollicked through a set of largely piano driven pop-rock gems, and Josh Moore crooned his way through a set of expressive songs, showcasing his soothingly smoky pipes.
