Schooner – Armadillo Grill, Duke – Nov. 21

Duke’s Campus Concert Series put on its last show of the semester Friday night at Armadillo Grill, and, from what this writer has seen, it’s about the best display they’ve had yet. Chapel Hill rockers the Embarrassing Fruits opened the night, plowing through a propulsive and vivacious set. Durham punk band the Dry Heathens amped up the energy even more, roaring through riff-filled anthems. The night ended on a fantastic note with Chapel Hill’s schooner bathing the crowd in deliciously dreamy pop. All in all, it was a consistently great show. The kind that, if CCS continues to produce at this level, was refreshing and accessible enough to really open the possibility of drumming up student interest.
